Following the request of several authors, the organising committee has decided to extend the deadline for abstract submission to Sunday 13 May 2012

Alfred Wegener and the centennial of the concept of continental drift. This international conference is organized under the general theme “Moving plates and melting icecaps - Processes and forcing factors in geology” to celebrate the centenary of the first paper on the concept of moving continents published by Alfred Wegener (Wegener, 1912) who died at the age of 50 during an expedition in Greenland.

Continental drift fossil evidence. As noted by Snider-Pellegrini and Alfred Wegener, the locations of certain fossil plants and animals on present-day, widely separated continents would form definite patterns (shown by the bands of colors), if the continents are rejoined.
